BEAR PAW
This was a broad shoe worn in the 15th century. Sometimes the forefoot would measure 12" across the ball of the foot and there were individual compartments for each toe. Alternative names for Bear's Paws were : Duck's Bill shoes, Scarpine shoes, and solerets . The shoe design was legislated against during the reign of Queen Mary.
